Snow Day…NOT!

Saturday’s forecast called for possible chance of flurries…but not snow!! It was very gloomy outside all morning, but then the wind picked up REAL fast it sounded like rain on the windows. We ran to the front door and to our surprise it was SNOWING!!! Madison was jumping up and down with excitement she ran onto the front porch in her jammies and was screaming..IT’S SNOWING, IT’S SNOWING, IT’S SNOWING. It was coming down like crazy, I ran and grabbed my camera…which was a good thing cause just as soon as it came, it left!! It snowed for approximately 15-20 minutes really hard and even started to accumulate on the ground. Then there was thunder and lightening…a snow storm? could it be possible? Yep, sure enough that’s what it was!! Kind of embarrasing to call it a snow day, but I guess you could say it was our FIRST snowfall of the year!! After the excitement of the snow, the day turned sunny, very windy and all the snow melted and you never even knew it snowed at all!! Glad I managed to capture these photos {in the moment} so I can prove that it really DID snow on Saturday, February 11th at our house :)

Valentine’s Day homemade picture cards

I wish I could take full credit for this idea, but I can’t {it’s so clever}…I got this idea on some other blogs last year and I see it again surfacing on some blogs and on Pinterest this year too…so I decided to give it try this year for Madison’s Valentine’s Day cards for her classmates. Since this is most likely the last year she will be doing Valentine’s in school :(  I am not sure they trade Valentine’s cards in Middle School. Oh my, I just had a very sad moment thinking about her in 6th grade, I don’t even want to think about that YET…I want to enjoy this last year of Elementary first!!

First of all I have to tell you that the background in the photo just happens to be our shower curtain in the hall bathroom that I found last year on clearance at Target the day after Valentine’s. I also got the matching rug…I think I got them both for 70% off I was so happy to be able to pull them and use them this year. It made the perfect backdrop for this project.  Then I  took a photo of Madison standing in front of the shower curtain with her arm held out in a fist and then opened up the photo in Photoshop Elements 9 and added the text. After I printed it out I used the exacto knife to cut out holes for the lollipop! That’s all :)

My New…”old” Typewriter

Sorry I haven’t posted in a little while…I was consumed by my new addiction!
spending many, many hours and late nights on ebay of all places…
trying to find and get the best deal on a typewriter on ebay…finally… I found one!! I had bid on several different ones but finally I WON a bid yesterday and the seller has already shipped it so I will be awaiting the big brown truck tomorrow for delivery. I got a vintage Olympia DeLuxe typewriter from the 60′s. The coolest part about this particular one is it types in a cursive font AND has a green ribbon that can type in green ink!!

Why you ask I would want a typewriter in this day in age with the technology of computers and printers…well for my Project Life 366 album there is alot of journaling involved and how cool would it be to just put whatever size journaling card/or paper in a typewriter and type right where you want to, instead of having to line it all up and test it out several times to get it all lined up to print out on my computer…such a hassle that is. I am so excited and can’t wait to get my new toy and start typing away.
Here it is…

I’m also bidding on another really cool typewriter… a Smith Corona Corsair Deluxe made in the late 50′s in Aqua so far I am the highest bidder I hope to get that one too!! It types in regular font and will be match my decor sitting on my scrapbooking table.  WHO KNEW that I would be so fascinated with old typewriters, but they are really cool!!

Wish me luck I hope I win this auction too :)

Happy 19th Birthday Kaitlynn

Its’s hard to believe that 19 years ago today {January 16th, 1993} my life change in the best way possible. My Daughter, Kaitlynn was born.

Here’s an OLD scrapbook page of mine that I did a LONG time ago with some shots from Kaitlynn’s First Year. {sorry for the line across the page I had to scanner stitch the best I could since I don’t have a 12×12 scanner}

Back to Photoshop

After a LONG over due wait I am now getting back to working with Photoshop again {Elements 9}. After I got my new computer and switched from Windows to Mac I haven’t done anything with Photoshop…until this week. I had bought the updated version Elements 9 back in May 2011 when I got my new Mac and it’s just been sitting in the box waiting and waiting for me to open and re-teach myself again. The time has come and just as I knew it, IT would happen…hours and hours up late playing with it. Little by little it’s coming back to me, plus I have learned a few new tricks and some cool features that Elements 9 has that 6 did not. So now I’ve added another addiction of mine to the plate…but loving every minute of it.
